|
|
I've discovered that whilst playing over Whaddon 4x4 track yesterday I've destroyed one of my front wheel bearings.
I've started stripping it down so that I can remove the old bearing and discovered the biggest nut I've ever seen holding the hub on.
Has anyone got any idea what size nut this is, as I don't have anything that even nearly fits it and I don't want to keep back and forth to the shops wasting money on sockets or spanners that don't fit. It looks like it might be as big as 48 or 50mm!!
Come to think about it, am I even going to get a deep enough socket for this?
Has anyone changed their wheel bearings and has any tips? I'd be very grateful

Hi
Just looked it up in the SJ service manual. according to the book of words it is (special Tool B) Pt No 09941-58010 whcih supprisingly enough is a 50mm deep socket.
I modified a cheep normal socket by cutting off the square drive and welding a 4" piece of scafflold between the two
That may help _________________ Well it as a 4x4 so why not drive it across a field |

Thanks for the help guys.
Zocko I just had a quick measure up and I would say ginger boy is right, it's a 50mm and definitely needs to be deep.
If you can get one can you let me know the price please. Also how much can you get hold of the wheel bearings for? I want to do the front axle, both sides.
If I don't hear from you beforehand, I'll give you a bell some time tomorrow.
