Just back from the MOT and our V6 Vitara has failed on emissions. Specifically carbon monoxide and Lambda readings. After a brief chat with a local mechanic it would seem that the lambda sensor could be at fault, and possibly the cat too. On top of that the camchain rattles like a b'stard so is clearly in need of replacement along with the tensioner/idlers etc.
Firstly, can anyone verify that we are at least barking up the right tree as far as the emission thing goes. Secondly, I'm guessing that genuine Suzuki parts won't be particularly cheap, so can anyone recommend a pattern part supplier?

Thanks in advance

Paul.

Coool! CO is about 0.5% over at fast idle and lambda was 1.08 first test and 1.039 second test. It also seems HC is over too, 529ppm first test and 338ppm second test. Engine number isH20A-114352. Assuming parts aren't too expensive, do you know anyone near me who can do the work? I also need to replace the camcahin cover, hopefully from a scrappy. There's a big lump missing from one corner and it's leaking like a good 'un.
If this all gets too expensive, as it looks like it might, it'll be retired to light off road duties at the wifes stables.  Sad
