Hi my son has a 1998 soft top with freewheeling hubs we have just brought this car and hubs was seized solid.  First using a pair of mole grips lightly gripp the locking selector (centre of the hub) and pull it of the hub.    Then I removed the six bolts from the hubs and put them on a bench.  Now using a small jewellers screwdriver gently opened up the retaining tabs (one at a time) on the white plastic retaining ring on the inside of the hub.  Keep a covering hand over the unit overwise the spring inside will shoot the bits in your face.  Once the ring was loosend off the unit the unit will either come apart with the springs or can be gently tapped apart with a brass drift through the front of the hub.   Now just clean and de-rust the parts.   One of my hubs was burred up through missuse but a small file cleaned the parts up and they are now totaly free.
rebuild the hub by first putting the hub locking selector in first ensuring it locks into place and that the selector indicators are aligned.  Next the springs and gears finally locking it into place with white plastic locking ring.
Toataly coat the internals of the assembly with either a good quality waterproof bearing grease or plenty of copper slip.
Since we did this my sons hubs have been trouble free up till now.
Hope this helps Denzil
