Hi all, got my 1st samurai sj 413 the other day. its in great nick but when i start it up its ticking over at about 2500rpm and drops to about 1700/1800 when warmed up. im still learning everything so what exactly should i look for to sort the problem?? and how easy is it to remove the carb and giv it a bit of a clean out?

Would be greatful for any help.

Thanks.

I had a similar issue with mine. If it has the auto choke, ditch it and get a manual weber. I have just done this to mine and the car is as quiet as a mouse - I can idle it at 600rpm!

Hi mate,

If it has a standard carb fitted then it is probably suffering with the usual problems that people have with them.

Swapping to a Webber or SU is a good way to solve the problems.
Here's a link to a topic on here that you might not have seen yet about carburetter problems.
It is quite a long thread but there is quite a lot of info you can get from there if you persevere and read on.

Hope that helps a bit.
