just why? euughhhh!

I think you have to admire someone who puts that much work in and the results look good not bodged, not my cup of tea too fussy but hey some ones done something left field and done it well.  Cool
Modding vits like that is massive in the far east, I put up a thread last night on pimped vits there's another one on there.

pretty much agree with retro, I admire it for the time and effort thats obviously gone into it, especially when it turns out looking good and not bodged like Retro says.

Again not to my taste, but each to their own!

are you guys actually being serious?

Don't get me wrong I do love my modded cars, but modding a jeep like that is just wrong in my eyes, if you're gonna lower it: lower it, but don't put bent as *beep* wings and bumpers on it so it looks like it's been lowered. I hate all the chrome that tends to come on fatboys, and the wheels look horrible too.

I think this Golf looks amazing

however, something like this Polo, or the Vitara I posted just look so disgusting with those stupid front bumpers on, they haven't even been lowered.

Having owned a Golf like that one I can honestly say I prefer a fat boy Vit!

Lets be honest, Fat Boy Vits are just plain fun. Not everyone in a 4x4 wants to get muddy, some like the look
or the practicality, or even just sitting higher.

I will never knock anyone for thier choice, if we all liked the same thing life would be a boring place.

There is a difference between opinion and insult sometimes (I know it's hard to work out tone and meaning in words on a forum too)

are you serious?! hell!

if that's your theory, you sound as bad as those people who buy BMW X3, X5, or X6's for driving around London! not that there's any excuse to buy a BMW '4x4' full stop!

lets point something out in your argument albertross74, the golf in your post is lowered by 60mm, will knock out a driveshaft about every 20000 miles and rip the bushes out of the wishbones shortly after.

the polo hasnt even been lowered, just a set of 16" mag alloys fitted so the argument for 'false lowering' as you put it is mayber defunct.

i used to work with a guy who had 2 theories about car modding:
1, if it dont scrape it aint low enough
2, drive it like you stole it

now this is all well and good if your basing it on a car thats low to start with, but a 4x4 is designed for ground clearance so its not really practicle to lower it.

the image of lowering is usually achieved by putting on bigger rims and lower profile tyres and often stiffening suspension to prevent rubbing the tyres on the bodywork.

if the theory of modding is based on how low you can go, does this mean that my sj isnt modded as it sits around 8-10 inches taller than standard?

drive a seriously lowered car and you realise they ain't worth the (literaly) pain. I spent too much making it look superb, then had to do 10 mile detours as I couldn't drive over speed bumps. It got stuck in a car park once on a slight crest and it nearly beached. Yes, it did eat drive shafts, 20000 would be nice, more like 8k!

Personally I don't mind people buying huge soft roaders (X5 etc) each to their own. I'm not they type of person who would cast doubt on someone for thier car choice.

Anyways, back to the OP's car. If I had that as a first car I would have been well chuffed, it'll make your arms stronger keeping it in a straight line, they like to follow cambers Wink   Razz  Razz

this is bog standard, but the 24" wheels make it look like its been lowered, is this what you mean?
