Hai there,

When I turn my wheels all the way to any side, and start to drive, I hear a ratling noise.

Also, it seems that something is preventing the car form moving freely. Like it is on handbreak.

Clearly that is not ok.

I changed the fluid in the front diff (old was smudged and nog enough). Ik did not change the gearboxoil yet, that will happen comming weekend.

I also noticed free play in the steering section.

Are these thing interconnected? I have to adress the free play anayway, but do I need to worrie about the rattling as well?

Mayby a faulty drive shaft connection?

Tnx for your advice,

Marc

Would have been nice to see what the more experienced owners had to say about that, as i has the exact same problem.

Good luck

the rattling sounds like cv joints going.

check them for wear first then go from there.

its always best to sort out problems one at a time, it makes it easier to think lol

Is this with the 4wd ingaged?

Hello,

I knew you would get some suggestions from members on this forum, especially from regulars such as Zocko, this guy clearly knows his stuff. His comments make a lot of sense, i have read alot of various suggestions to sorting out problems and once they have tried what has been suggested they seem to over come the problem in question. That is what these forums are all about.

Sorry for taking so much time before my reply.

The free play in steering is always. I think there are some worn out bushings.

And the rattling is only when in 4wd. I spoke to others with a Jimny and Samurai, they also indicate that there is a rattling in tight corners with their car.

do you have free wheeling hubs?

if the rattle is only in 4WD check driveshafts and CV joints, maybe a long shot but check the UJ's also
