I have a wideboy and put some fatboy tyres on it (255/60/15) and have been told these are illegal as they are wider than my wheel arches. Hell, what would I know! Sods law, I bet they are but can someone clear this for me?
Thanks

The wheelarch has to cover the tread of the tyre when viewed from directly above, note it's the tread itself not the bulge of the wall, the wall can stick out no probs.

There is a little bit of leniency applied by most MOT testers and police, several of my friends have run tyres I'd consider to be illegal but no-one's ever had any grief over them.... Rolling Eyes

Take a couple of pics for us Wink

hi new here but keepan eye on ebay you can buy plastic guards that wrap round wheel arch that might suit your needs to keep good looking wheels

I wouldn't worry about it too much, if it becomes a problem then just get the same arches I have, they're cool.  I have the same tyres as you.

They looked great but I decided not to run the risk of illegal tyres so took them off  Sad  So theyre gathering dust in my attic.  I plan to get bigger arches but havent found any yet.
