I have a 1991 samurai and recently i changed the fan belt on it. however the problem of the battery light staying on has not cured. the light stays on even when the engine is running. sometimes it goes off and its brightness is changed by me revving up the engine. but the altenator is definatley turning because i can see it turning when the bonnet is open. what could be wrong

you need a new regulator prob but its a hell of a lot easier just to change the alternator.

itll cure the problem

a cheaper option might be to see if you can get yours rebuilt locally rather than replacing it?

i will take a look but its due a service and ill have the altenator looked at. it doesnt seem to stay on, but the problem could have been caused since i have added 4 front fog lights to the jeep.
