hi, for the body lift i used 8x 3x3x3 cubes with a hole drilled for a new body bolt. then remove the gear sticks (push and rotate the collet) remove the front lights and front and rear bumper. starting at the rear unbolt the 6 body nuts and loosen the 2 under the front headlights. lift the body at the rear then cut the thread so there is 1/2 an inch of thread left then bolt the cube to the body (i placed the rubber mounts on the chassis) then bolt the cube "loosely" to the chassis. unbolt the front mounts fully then lift the front 4" and start cutting the thread down and fitting the cubes. you will have to make a plate to lift the bumpers and if your rear lights are in the bumper you can fit the ones in the body they simply unplug. for the suspension lift i would ONLY fit lwb springs (they look the same length but have a higher rating) and replace the rear shocks with procomp es1000, any longer and your spring will fall out i fitted es3000 and had to weld my rear spring in. dont bother with rear shock extensions "i bought a pair and destroyed them in 2 outings"
keep it simple i found worked really well with the vitara i never broke any components with the above setup
youwill need to extend the gear levers by 3", i cut them and welded a 3" piece in the middle... hope this helps. |

how do you get on with the gearsticks? I heard of people recommending to lessen the bend on the gear stick or cutting the gearstick hole, also heard of replacing the transfer box lever with straight pipe?
I'm asking as I currently run a 1 1/2 inch lift done basically the same as you but considering going up to 3 to be able to fit bigger tyres
totally agree about the springs too, first mod I did was find some LWB springs and fit them, not got new shocks yet though but it works well |

Grand Vitara Springs with 1.5" front and 2" rear shock spacers give a useable 1.5" lift approx.
Cheers, Chistian. |

Does a the 3 inch body lift effect the steering, and I am guessing u have to replace the brake hose's for longer ones |

3" is the biggest without any other mods (2" on an sj). you will have to extend the gear levers (bits 4 vits) and lift the bumpers (or not)
if you read my write up it explains what you need to do |
