your approach angle is basicly, how steep a hill is as you head towards it for a climb, departure angle is just the opposite, when commin off a hill onto flat ground. yer extended shackles can hang low and catch the hill on approach. as a rough guide. run a straight line from the leading edge of yer front wheel up the front of yer rig. same for rear departure angle.

Well, I to am new to all this and i thought the shackles were pretty goo for price eand stuff.
I've been told about the axles being the other way round so tou get clearance like that??
This way was just quicker and easyer for the moment, and so far i haven't got stuck .
not a bad zook for 350 and about 150 put into it.....? _________________

if ya look at the shackles on the pic, then extend them lower as in extended shackles they can interfere with the approach angle line. thinkin logicaly, the higher ya go the more clearance. but with the mechanics of a shackle lift, they can reduce your ap angle. as for the cage, kejan engineering, gillingham. 2'' steel tube, overkill for a zook, but i wanted the f*** off strong look. all in, £130.
