Hi peeps

Ive just bought a samurai today and have a few questions

1,Ok, It or me wont go over 50mph and when is does get to 50mph its very unstable and shakes violently(Not nice to be in)  please tell thats not normal????

2,Its seems very high but not sure yet how this has been acheived

3,Can anyone sugest some extra long brake pipe rubbers as these are being stretched big time at the moment and i have a MOT due in November.

4,The turning circle is almost zero (Is that normal)

5, The leaf springs are almost flat and im sure there some some missing?

6, Im sure theres more but ive lost it now!!!!!!

i work in a scrap yard so brake pipes are not a problem, Its also over heating but im sure i can sort that out! (Although could never find the leak on my old Plastic Pig)

Hopefully someone can help as i dont want this to be my lasting thoughts of my new toy

Kev

1.   what size tyres are you using, if they are larger than standard this changes the gear ratio so 50 on the speedo could really be 60 on the road.
2.   do the leaf springs go under the axle (standard) or over (modified)
3.   if its front brake pipes you can use vitara front flexis fit straight on and loads longer
4.   turning circle is pretty rubbish
5.   leaf springs may just be old but mine are almost flat too.

hope this helps Very Happy

Hiya Kev Very Happy

Everything me and the wife said, plus...

1, Check the wheel balancing, particularly if the tyres are oversized mud terrains. One of my wheels has 380g of weights Surprised . Mine will do 65 (according to the sat nav so that's right) but comfort decreases exponentially as speed increases. To be honest I don't go over about 55 unless I have to 'cos it develpos a really nasty skuttle shake that makes me want to spew Embarassed
2, Loads of different lift options, take some pics of the suspension etc and we'll tell you what it has Wink . This point combined with points 1 & 5 make me suspect that you might have extended shackles, which are just horrible! Evil or Very Mad
4, Yeah, pretty shyte! Laughing
5, Standard front springs are pretty flat, back ones shouldn't be though.... Laughing

Ah right, so you've got Spring Over Axle conversion.

The tyres are quite a bit bigger than standard (195/80R15) so that'll throw your gearing out, but don't forget it'll also affect the speedo so you may be going 6% faster than you think you are Wink . You might find that you'll get more speed if you hold it in 4th rather than trying to do it in 5th.

Hi,

What advantage will free wheeling hubs give me? would the whole axles bolt straight on or is there some mods needed?

I've got like a switch on each of my front wheels that locks and unlocks the front diff, is that whats classed as free wheeling hubs? If so what exactly would need doing if you do have free wheeling hubs to fit some sort of power steering?
