Hi - Just got a 93 Vitara manual. My wife would like to drive it but can only drive an automatic!

Has anyone converted a manual to automatic? Can it be done?

If yes then any info on parts needed would be appreciated. I guess an auto gearbox would be helpful! I know pedals would also be needed and how does the kickdown connect up - is a new manifold needed(and then exhaust)? Lastly are there any special electrical connections to watch out for?

Also are there any recommended breakers? Or has anyone got a auto they want to change to a manual?

Sorry for all the questions but I really could do with some help here!

I think you may be better off selling your manual and buying an auto !

I have 2 vits, one auto with a blown engine and one manual thats been rolled but with a sweet engine...

Going to swop engines but keep it auto.

There is a lot of different stuff, its not just the boxes etc.

If your going down this route then i'd buy a complete auto, you can pick up problem vits for as little as £100.  You can sell the rest and maybe re-coup some money back, but it will take you a while to do the swop and get everything working properly.

I'll post up some pics of my project after my hand heals up.....managed to slice it open on the broken light while taking off the front grill and bull bar !!! LOL

Good luck with it, i know i'll need it !!!
