I want to take my 1994 Vit JLX wideboy on a long run to my parents (around 170 miles) but my husband has been told that Vits are not good on fuel on a long trip.  I've even said I'll swap my fatboy tyres for my normal tyres but he's not convinced.  So Vit experts, how economical are our beloved Vits??
Thanks.

A quick google says it should be able to do 30odd mpg which is good I reckon.  Smile

The problem is that they have all the aerodynamics of a brick, so they're very badly affected by speed. Wind resistance is near enough twice as much at 70 as it is at 50.  Stick the road tyres on and take it easy and it'll be fine I'm sure. Then calculate the mpg and come back and tell us what it did Wink

I average 31.5mpg on combined journeys (1.6 16v jx 5dr). I'm trying fuel savers at the moment to see if they work. I'll keep you all updated.
