Hi all, Ive just bought a Suzuki Samurai Santana. Its pretty much standard but has a Webber carberettor sat on top of the engine.

I am now starting a project on her. The project will include:

-Spring over axle conversion
-Remove standard tank
-Ally fuel tank in rear bed
-Facet Fuel Pump
-All round pro comp Shocks
-Pro Comp steering damper
-Winch Bumper
-Winch
-Heavy duty rear bumper
-External roll cage
-New paint job
-Paint wheels
-New uprated shackles
-Take out all wiring and leave essentials
-Take out lights
-Install new rear brakelight
-Wheel spacers
-Diffguards (possibly homemade)
-Axle strengthening
-Body strengthening and welding inner arches

This is the jeep at the moment with my freshly installed tyres. They grip like no ones business! Greenway Alligators 195/80x15. I had the choice to go slighty wider with the tyres but as the theory goes....... the skinny tyre will dig in easier. Especially with a very light vehicle the skinny tyre will allow for it to dig in more. A bigger and heavier vehicle will be able to have a wider tyre as the weight will dig the car in a bit more. Thats my thoery anyway

Watch this space everyone as I will be updating with pictures at every little stage

Right.......... So Yesterday (19/10/07) I found a great substitute for those rubbish sj transfer box bush mounts.

These are the babys. I can get hold of them and will supply them to people so if you want some just PM me.

Today (20/10/07) I went on a trip to the den of the "OFFROAD ARMORY" www.offroad-armory.com

I purchased a few things for my project.............

First of all I bought the leaf over axle suspension kit.
here are the new axle saddles i bought:

They are CNC machined and beautifully welded.

The 2 front ones are taller with the drivers side front a slighty bigger inner radius for the axle due to it being
nearer to the diff

Also in the Leaf over axle kit there comes a new heavy duty Z LINK bar for the steering.

This is a peice of kit on its own!
Still hanging from my garage roof drying, shes a bit tacky  Very Happy :

Along with ball join and nut, she's a beauty

Very nicely constructed again by the OFFROAD ARMORY

As with the LOA (Leaf over axle) kit you are lifting everything between 5-7 inches upwards,
this means your propshafts wont reach  Sad  So thats where you need prop spacers.

Beautifully turned from allimium these are robust, leightweight and just waiting to be bolted on:

As your putting the saddles that house the u-bolts and the standard shock mounts ontop of the axle, this doesnt give a good position for your shocks to sit in.

Some very simple but strong shockmounts do the trick that you weld the the onto the axle to keep the shock
mounts in their more normal position. This allows me to get extended shocks for my SJ therefore,
MORE travel. Very nicely welded again by the OFFROAD ARMORY

As when lifting everything up and away from the axles, your brake lines need to be extended
So Rob at the offroad armory sold me these too. Some goodridge braided brake lines which also
get rid of that spongey feel of the normal sj.

As with my project I will be purchasing new leaf springs so I thought I might as well
get a poly bush kit in advance. These babys I got for trade price as Rob at OFFROAD ARMORY
had just changed his supplier and quoted me the old price at the time. these are alot better too
so I couldn't complain

It was definatley time for me to replace that bull bar and get something a bit more substantual.

I decided I would love to house a winch on the front of my jeep in the end so i went for one
of the OFFROAD ARMORY's winch bumpers. This is a beautiful peice of kit and well worth it!

A few weeks back I decided I would treat myself to an electic fuel pump.
I went the route of the FACET pump as I know its very good at what it does.
The best price I got was from www.burtonpower.com who are a big specialiser
in oldskool ford performance.

A few days after I bought my fuel pump I invested in some Electical bits.

I bought a selection of buttons, switches, fuse box and warning lights
to give the interior of my jeep the more racey feel.

And along with these I acquired a nice Peice of ally which is going to cover up most of my center
consoul and house all the switches etc

Also the other day I found a very nice tow ball in my garage looked unused.
I intend to get a heavy duty rear bumper at some point so this can be bolted to the back of it

So at the end of today (20/10/07) This is my box of goodies, Minus a few things that
just wouldnt have fitted in, such as drying Z link bar and my winch bumper.

And this is me at the end of the day, very pleased with my purchases and hope soon
to crack on with my project. What a very expensive day for a 17 year old  Laughing
