Ours is hunting and running rich
AND I cannot reduce the current "too fast" idle
HELP!!!!
Do I just JuNK the CarB
Can a Mini's SU fit the 970?
I know people fit an SU to the 1300
Anyone do this to a 970?

Yep
my 410 has an SU carb fitted, it pretty much lines straight up to the original manifold IIRC I know it wasn't very hard to do anyway The 410 carbs arn't really that bad though, it's the 1300cc engines that have carb problems generally, and i'm not sure i've gained anything from the swap really
Before you change the carb just do a quick check of the ignition timing, I know i couldn't get the revs down on mine because the timing was too far advanced. Worth a check _________________ Suzuki now gone, replaced by Pajero's |

As I have yet to acquire a Workshop Manual for it off
Can you tell me what the timing should be and where I'd find the timing marks?

Hi Jo0lz
Timing is 10 degrees BTDC @ 850 rpm. the timing marks are on the flywheel visible through a hole on the passenger side near the top, they sometimes have a rubber bung covering the hole.

Hi,
To set up SU carbs remove damper/slide box and set jet level with the jet holder then lower by one and a half turns, if you check the needle holder you will see that there is a circlip to set the length should you require. Make sure that there is oil in the damper use 3 in 1 thats the best.
